A successful project is not just about planning and execution.

it's about inspiration.

It's about leading a team that shares a common vision to accomplish goals in a manner that benefits individuals, teams, the organization at large, and the communities it serves.

EXPERIENCE

EXPERIENCE

2021

Project Manager

Accountingprose

My role as a project manager at Accountingprose was to assess opportunities for growth and improvement, develop strategies to streamline processes, increase productivity, enhance external and internal communications, and gather/analyze work performance data for project health reports and retrospectives.

2016 - 2021

Unlock | Bodyworks

Office manager, Project Manager, Founder

In 2016 I founded Unlock Bodyworks with two primary purposes. First and foremost I wanted to create a team of therapists capable of serving athletes and pain patients at a higher level of quality than is often currently available. Equally as important I wanted to provide each therapist with the environment, coaching, and opportunities to further develop their clinical expertise and their business acumen.

Over the past 5 years I am proud to say that both of those purposes were realized in ways, and on scales, that I had not even imagined when we began.

2010 - 2020

Clinic Director, Project Manager, Instructor

Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado

Over the course of my ten years with MTIC I was able to fill almost every role available, at every level of the organization, and learn an immense amount about business and team management in the process.

I began as an intern therapist and a teacher's assistant, and progressed to instruct courses in a wide range of subjects including Clinical Assessments for Manual Therapists, Ethics, and Sports Therapy. I became the clinic director at age 26, managed internal projects throughout my time there, and fostered community relationships which broadened the school's impact as well as created new opportunities for students to learn off-site.

In 2019 I spearheaded a major business model shift with the aim of maintaining a competitive foothold in a rapidly changing industry. This project was well underway when the school was forced to close shortly after COVID hit, and was unfortunately never able to re-open.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Projects I Am Most Proud Of -
ROMP Global, Cotopaxi Summit Support Project

Every year ROMP Global (a non-profit prosthetics company) attempts a new record for the most amputee mountaineers to successfully summit an iconic peak in south America.

In early 2019 I was approached by a member of that mountaineering team for advice on how to help optimize the team's performance so that more of them could make the summit for that year's attempt on Cotopaxi, a 19,000 ft. voclano in Quito, Ecuador.

Through talks with him, others on the team, and ROMP's chief administrators and founders, I put together a project plan to provide their team with preparatory support at my sports therapy clinic in Denver as well provide sports therapy and injury assessment support from my team during their summit attempt.

This was a multifaceted project that included choosing two of our most capable therapists, training them to be able to handle the demands of not only successfully summiting Cotopaxi, but being able to simultaneously provide work as manual therapists for any team members who needed it. It also included planning and executing fundraising campaigns to cover the costs associated with sending our therapists to work internationally. The primary fundraising came from fostering relationships with private donors, hosting a handstand relay race in Boulder, CO, producing a health and wellness seminar with eight separate classes for practitioners and the general public, and developing new business relationships to support those events.

The whole project spanned 11 months, had many realized risks along the way, and was ultimately a great success that ended with hitting all of our fundraising goals (with enough funds left over to donate prosthetics and PT care to ROMP's clinical patients) and a successful summit attempt by a record number of ROMP's mountaineering team, which included our brave and capable therapists.

Making the Summit

Inner City Health, Pain Patient Support Project

In 2018 I was running a manual therapy program at Inner City Health Hospital in Denver. Through our work we were observing some patients being able to reduce their need for chronic use of opioid pain medications, but we were also noticing that some of the patients who were the heaviest users were not improving as well as we had hoped. It primarily came down to how often they were able to get alternative treatments, and that was most often limited by their lack of health insurance and the inability to afford regular care out-of-pocket.

To solve this problem I got together with the chief administrators at ICH, and with my team of therapists at my clinic, and we initiated a project to make it possible for eligible ICH patients to receive a series of regular treatments with my therapy team at Unlock Bodyworks at no cost to the patients.

The project included a selection process to choose and approve the most in-need and eligible patients, developing treatment protocols as well as processes for data collection surrounding methods and results, processes for project retrospectives, and planning/executing a fundraising campaign to cover the associated costs.

Six months later we had achieved the necessary funds by way of our entire clinic team entering a 5k race and getting sponsorships from the community. Three months after that we had completed treatment plans for selected ICH pain patients which successfully reduced the amount of chronic pain medications used by all patients involved.

Project Management Institute

PMP

I have been managing projects, teams, and departments for the better part of a decade, and I believe that no matter how much experience a person has, it is always advantageous (and essential) to consistently pursue deeper knowledge and technical understanding.

The PMP is the gold standard for good reason. Qualifying for, studying for, and achieving this certification helped me further hone my technical understanding of all aspects of project management across a wide range of industries and organizational types.

Certified Disciplined Agile Scrum Master

Project Management Institute

In the past decade it has become a major competitive advantage for organizations of any size, in any industry, to adopt aspects of agile methodology. The key is to implement agile methods in a disciplined manner.

In my continuous efforts to stay ahead of the curve with team development and project management, this certification course helped me improve my ability to apply the agile framework in applicable and effective ways amidst ever-evolving team environments.

2020

Course in Genomics, applications in healthcare

Udacity, Nanodegree Programs

If there is a field of study that I am interested in, I will pursue it. Gaining technical knowledge in a wide range of fields is not only advantageous to a person's ability to maintain mental agility, but also helps develop better creative problem solving skills by fostering a larger pool of concepts, disciplines, and strategies to draw ideas from.

I have a deep passion for continuous learning, and am extremely grateful for platforms like Udacity putting together great programs covering an impressive variety of topics and disciplines.

Organization

There are very few challenges, in work and in life, a person can engage in that aren't better accomplished by working with a solid team. Whether it is having more eyes to assess blind spots, more minds to generate better ideas, or more pairs of hands to get it all done. I appreciate the powerful benefits of cohesive teamwork, and excel in building, maintaining, and guiding great teams.

Not everyone is inherently organized, nor should we expect them to be. I am not only a very organized person in my own work and personal life, but have developed the ability to help others become more organized as well on individual and team levels.

Adaptive Communications

When someone asks me about my preferred communication style my answer is; with whom am I communicating?

The best coaches have a knack for transforming their coaching style to fit the different needs of team member. This requires a listen first mentality.

My preferred communication method is to actively listen, gauge what the best style of communication will be for each person, and transform my communication methods to fit what will be most effective.
